Maxwell Air Force Base
U.S. Air Force base located in Montgomery. Originally the site of the Wright Air School in 1910, then controlled by the U.S. Army during World War I and subsequently. Known as the Aviation Repair Depot and Maxwell Field before the establishment of the Air Force. In 1946, the Air University (an institution providing military education for Air Force officers) was established at the base; this continues to be its primary focus. (Wikipedia)
